How to Get the Most Out of Your Panasonic GH5 When Shooting in Low Light

Last year I shot a bunch of footage in Sonoma under gorgeous redwood trees. I used a Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera in film mode. But using the GH5 is so convenient, and brings so many benefits ergonomics, long battery life, compact size, aforementioned IBIS that it far outweighs the hassles of the Blackmagic camera.

Really though Panasonic needs to fix skin tones so they look accurate and contrast AF should really be "phased" out and Phase Detect used instead.
I am looking to getting this and coming from using a GH4 for over a year, this does seem quite a bit better. Throw in no autofocus at all in variable frame rate modes, and you have a camera that you're really going to have to love, in order to buy it. Looking good, so far. Very clean! Looks like the CDAF still is hunting backwards and forwards to get correct focus. Things I noted from when I used a demo GH5.

Many of the shots were white balanced off a gray card, though the lighting changed several times and we had mixed lighting as well, so it's not perfect. We did very minimal grading in order to show the footage as close to out-of-camera as possible. It must be me then but this looks quite bad. The motion is jerky, the skin colours horrible or does the guide have a pink neck? It's you. The jerkiness is the 24fps format, should have been shot at 30fps.
